Thurmaston lies just 4 miles from Leicester City Centre on the A46, and despite a population of less than 10,000, benefits from being one of the most popular and prominent villages north of Leicester.

Located on the River Soar and boasting two marinas and Watermead Park - a purpose-built nature reserve - Thurmaston is popular with boating and wildlife enthusiasts alike. Watermead Park, whose beautiful surroundings play host to a wide variety of birdlife, boasts a network of recreational pathways and cycle-ways which link into nearby villages and into Leicester itself.

The Village centre benefits from a good range of local shops including newsagents, chemists, butchers and post office. There is also a large Asda superstore and outdoor shopping centre on the village edge which houses many household names including Next, Dunelm Mill Carphone Warehouse, TK Maxx, Starbucks, Boots and many more.

Thurmaston also has a wide range of leisure & community facilities. These include floodlit football pitches, an indoor sports hall, play areas and a small, but well stocked library. Leisure facilities, including country walks, golf, swimming and rugby are available locally, but for the more serious sporting individual or spectator nearby Leicester plays host to league class football, rugby, cricket and basket ball.

Transport links from Thurmaston are excellent, with the A46 and A6 within 2 miles of the village and the M1 only 5 miles away giving access to the M69. This offers commuters easy access to both the North and South, with Leicester, Coventry, and Nottingham all within 30 minutes drive time.
