How to keep smiling this Blue Monday

Posted on 12th January 2024 in News & Views

Monday 15th January marks Blue Monday in the UK, a day that is typically known as the saddest day of the year as people return to work from the festive break. At Rippon Homes we have come up with some of our best tips to offshoot this sadness and make Blue Monday a bit happier.

Stay Connected

Spending time with close family and friends is a brilliant way of boosting serotonin levels by having a laugh, or using this time to speak about how you and your loved ones are feeling to create a close support network.

You can invite friends over to your home for a coffee and a chat or go on a walk to help clear your head of the everyday stresses that you may be experiencing.

Keep Active

One of the best ways to rid yourself of the January blues is to get a workout in, as the endorphins from exercising work wonders in melting away any stress. A workout can be as strenuous as you want, it could be a gym session, a run or even just a short stroll.

In January, people often set themselves fitness related goals which means you can hit any resolutions you may have whilst keeping your mind and body fit and healthy.

Get Creative

Getting creative is another great way to relieve yourself of any mental pressures you may be experiencing, and using a productive activity such as crocheting, drawing or painting can distract you and help recentre your stress levels.

At Rippon Homes, we know January can be a hard month for a lot of people for a variety of reasons and we hope that these three tips will help start good habits that can be utilised throughout the year to keep a healthy mind.
